Prose for Malala

By Fatima Chowdhry

The world is still burning

So let it burn

You wonder whatever happened to all the good

Where have all the angels gone?

Are they to be destroyed by the fires of hell?

The hell bound hunters who claim to be servers of the Faith

the Truth is not cruel,

GO tell them

No God punishes His creation the way they do

Blast bombs on innocents in congested poverty ridden streets.,

You claim to be Talibs.. students of what?

A new language of hatred?

Where not even our children are safe?

And what are their sins, the innocent Malala’s who dared to go to school.

You are NOT God and no God kills His innocents.

So go …Avant

In the name of the devil !

Back to the depraved pits of hell from where you descended.

most women are related to male parliamentarians but there are some who get there due to ethnic or sectarian discrimination…..smacks of the same nepotism and prejudices but conditions in SWAT are different in that the people there belong to the same ethnic race and speak the same language, have the same cultural organization. This is also the case in India and all poverty ridden countries of the world…….democracy in such places is exploitation of the weak and poor through evil tactics to convey benefit to the ruling class.. It is not for the poor countries to mimic the governmental system of rich or advanced countries without first bringing them up to their level,,,comparatively.

The 7th century islam is marching to increase/strengthen its fascism and its grip on the muslims. You are aware of this.

I am happy to expose fascism and not by singing hari krishna. Actually islam’s fascism is being exposed by the muslims themselves. I don’t have to make any extra efforts. Pakistani newspapers are full of reports about how islamic fascism and ethnofascist arabization are working out in the islamic paradise of Pakistan.

Islam is the biggest blasphemy and injury to the god-concept. Muslims are proving this through their violence, stupidities, self-deceits and deceits.

One wonders why human beings are still not fully alert/alarmed about the evil and danger caused by islam and its agents and quislings.

    Miss Chaudry,
Do not masquerade with an arabic name. stick to your poetry line and improve if you can with love not hate and hope in place of dismay and anger. The so called groups operating under the label of Talibans have their own mission and you have your own task. each of us is responsible for our own actions and the consequences of such actions. Pakistan military is using the Malala incident as a pretext to continue their assault(started by the Indian born Parvez bin Musharaf) on the civilians by use of long range artillery pieces and miliary jets bombing of the territory beyond swat in the Tirah mountains.

Action your feelings and send your deliberations to the women legislators in pakistan. Encourage women withot demonising any individuals or groups, do not frighten your fellow citizens by following the rhetoric and propaganda of your interior minister who has sworn allegance to Pakistan as well as foreign power. Cross over the border with the group of women legislators and visit the schools(some built with German Govt. assistance) where young Afghan girls are studying in the provinces which are fully controlled by the Talibans.

You should research and find out the hisorical affiliation of German folks with the Afghan aryans, though some thought good of Pakistan contemporary as well who absolved his philosophy from Kannt in heidelberg.

On a personal note, if you can follow persian language, read Ferdowsi Shahnameh, a mythical and historical epic of Iran in 60,000 verses.

    Was,Salam.

Parvez Musharaf is not indian-born. Muslim-ness and indian-ness are incompatible. Musharraf’s parents are/were muslims. Not indians. He was born as a son of quislings and bootlickers of islamic-arab-turkish imperialisms. Merely because he was born in british-ruled India does not make him indian or indian-born. Musharraf was (and still is) always very boisterous and shameless when it came (comes) to expressing his detestment of India, indians and hindus and his bootlicking of China, Saudis and Turks.

Musharraf is quisling-born and not indian-born. You (rex) too are a quisling-born. Mentally you are not different from Musharraf. Your only grudge against Musharraf is that he did not appoint you as pakistani ambassador to Germany or Saudia.

Madrassas are not taking care of children but taking them under their boots to trample upon their minds and make angry irrational killers, zombies and gangsters out of them. They are being used for islamic fascism.

As regards basic educational skills – they are being used only to read manuals of how to make bombs and deceive decent people. It would be better if they don’t have these basic educational skills then.

How deep must islam-based societies sink in fascism before you open your eyes to the fascist reality that engulfs and drowns them?

Better uneducated human beings than ones who are educated only marginally and then misled and misused as zombies. Islam is the biggest producer of cowards, self-deceivers and zombies.

Madressahs serve as social welfare institutions, regardless the level of education, inc religious knowledge, imparted there it is true that obedience , discipline and mutual respect are strictly taught to the students in a ”military fashion’. But there is a big diff between madressahs and kanjar khana’s at the similar welfare dens or many places of worship of Hindus, Christians, etc…nothing is hidden from what happens at nunneries and monasteries ….at least Muslims don’t exploit Apsara’s, Baandi’s,Kaneezes, dharam daasi’s and chamarans at their welfare, religious or educational places. This makes one believe that most of the Hindu’s including you are progeny of the same…educated as think you are because you learnt a bit of English at a ‘cost’….and therefore look at others too with the same mind…

    .

come to my madressah and I will charge you no fee,,,,lodging and boarding free, free meals….but you must obey me and do the drill as ordered daily!! As for English it has now been inducted in the madressah syllabi and you can improve on it as well…..all for free!!

    .

For a full ten days after she was abducted and raped by a group of men, the teenager told no-one, terrified by the men’s threats and their claim that they would distribute photographs they had taken during the attack.

When she did eventually tell her mother, things got even worse; her father, a gardener, unable to bear the trauma of what had happened to his daughter and the indignity of such photographs being passed around, swallowed pesticide.

In the following days, police arrested and charged seven men, all members of a higher caste. But the response to what took place by certain elements of society – a suggestion that the age of marriage should be be lowered to reduce rapes, and that such attacks were triggered by eating ‘Western’ fast-food – sparked both a wave of anger and a debate about India’s attitudes towards women that has gripped the country

Today, the 16-year-old sits with her hands quietly folded on the edge of a bed in a relative’s house, reaching for courage amid this bewildering storm. She says she is determined to obtain justice. “It’s not just about me. Things have been happening in other villages,” she said.

The story of the attack on the teenager is one that exposes many of the often-overlapping faultlines within India’s still predominantly rural society. The young woman’s family are Dalits, traditionally located at the very bottom of Hindu society where they suffer widespread discrimination. In the girl’s village, Dabra, located 10 miles from Hisar in the state of Haryana, most of her extended family and neighbours worked as landless labourers.

Her alleged attackers, by contrast, were Jats, a higher caste that is common in many north Indian states and are often land-owners. In Dabra, said the senior village official, all the land is owned by Jats.

Campaigners say Dalits often suffer violent assault and that Dalit women are the most vulnerable. They claim the situation is particularly bad in rural Haryana, relatively prosperous and located close to the national capital, but where strict patriarchal and conservative attitudes often clash with demands for change.

The state has the country’s worst gender ratio, with just 830 girls for 1,000 boys because of the illegal but widespread use of pre-natal sex selection and female foeticide.

The attitudes were revealed, say campaigners, by the response of many of those from Haryana to the rape of the young woman from Dabra and other similar cases, highlighted by the subsequent media attention.

One local leader, Jitender Chhatar, a member of a so-called khap panchyatt, or unelected village council claimed: “Consumption of fast food contributes to such incidents. Chowmein leads to hormonal imbalance, evoking an urge to indulge in such acts. You also know the impact of chowmein, which is a spicy food, on our body.”

Meanwhile, the state’s former chief minister, Om Prakash Chautala, of the Indian National Lok Dal, an ally of the main national opposition, told local media he supported another recommendation from a khap panchyatt which claimed lowering the marriage age to 15 would also reduce the number of rapes. “In the past, especially in Mughal era, people used to marry their daughters early to save them from such atrocities. Currently a situation of similar kind is arising in Haryana,” he said.

The village of Dabra is made of narrow alleyways, where farm animals are tethered and open-drains run along the sides of the tracks. The Jat area, with its cement roads and large houses is noticeably wealthier then the cluster of Dalit streets. “There is a difference in everything – electricity supply, water, the streets, the entire infrastructure,” said the young woman.

While she and her family have moved to the house of an aunt in Hisar, an uneasy calm hangs about her village. Few people are keen to speak about the situation. A policeman sits on guard outside the family home. “The police have been here ever since this happened,” said one middle-aged Dalit woman, Chameli, who said she was a cousin of the teenager’s father. “The Jats have been saying things like ‘You have done this to our community, you have betrayed us. Do not enter out fields’.”

The young woman from Dabra harboured ambitions to become the first member of her family to attend college. She has been studying economics, Sanskrit and history. Yet despite her ambitions – or perhaps because of them – she found herself rebuffed by those who did not want to see either Dalits or women progress in society.

Many in the community considered her family “untouchable” and would not share food, drinking water or even utensils with them. “On Tuesdays [a day associated with worship of the god Hanuman], they would not sell milk to us,” she added, dressed in a white and yellow, traditional long-sleeved shirt.

The elected head villager, a woman called Maya Devi whose husband’s name, and not her’s, appears on the council’s office building, denied claims from the teenager’s family that pressure had been exerted to try and make them drop the case, including the offer of payments. “The fact is they have got people,” she said. “The case has been filed with the police. There is no way it cannot go to court.”

Media reports quoting figures from the National Crime Records Bureau suggest that the number of reported rapes in Haryana increased from 386 in 2004 to 733 in 2011. There is a conviction rate of 13 per cent.

In the month since the attack in Dabra on September 9, the media has reported at least a dozen rapes, many of them gang-rapes. In one incident in the town of Jind, a 16-year-old Dalit girl set herself on fire after being assaulted. “I criticise in the strongest terms these kind of incidents. The guilty should get the severest punishment,” Sonia Gandhi, president of the ruling Congress party, said when she visited the family.

Yet campaigners say cases are routinely settled before they reach the courts. “The laws are there on paper but on the ground there is impunity,” said Asha Kotwal, of the National Campaign on Dalit Human Rights. “There has to be stringent implementation of laws – that will give a strong message that these things cannot happen.”

In the Dabra case, the local police, many of whom are members of the Jat community, have been accused of inaction. The family of the girl said the police declined to file charges until relatives refused to take the father’s body home from the mortuary for cremation. Several of those eventually arrested came from families of local politicians.

The Superintendent of police for Hisar, Satheesh Balan, said the young woman did not come forward for ten days and that details of her statement changed. He said there had been a 15 per cent reduction in reported rapes in Haryana but said his own district had seen a slight increase.

Last year, there were 38 rapes of which 28 involved people of the same caste.

Having questioned the accused, he said he did not believe the attack was a caste-related crime. “When they committed the crime, they did not know the caste of the girl,” he said.

Meanwhile, the young woman is somehow trying to think of the future. She has enrolled in a new school and in recent days began classes. “The community has already forwarded demands to the government,” she added. “One is that I be given a job so I can manage for myself.”

    AKB,

The stories of cimes and those of rapes is occuring all over the world, most within or due to failure of social institutions. The good people of the world, individualy and collectively are struggling to overcome it. No society nor any religion in all honesty sanctifies it or encourages it but involuntarily encourages it and tolerates it at times.

i agree with you but it was necessary to tell those who malign Muslims for such criminal acts which, in fact, are higher in the US and India ( Indians keep such crimes in secret when in fact these crimes are higher than many there!)

    .

I asked for opponents of Talibs etc to furnish evidence of rape committed by them but none showed up, This shows there is more propaganda against the Talibs than reality. As for the killings committed by them it is simply clear that they regard it as a war against occupiers and that they have the legal and moral right to destroy them. To give impetus to their struggle they seek refuge behind Jihad….right or wrong but it is a fact that a Muslim is left with no choice but to Jihad against occupiers and invaders….

    .

    @ liberals and seculars here!!!!!

Do you want to follow example of the US in that one out of their 5 women are raped??? If the fruit of liberalism is that then better bidding good bye to it becomes pertinent on Muslims!!

    AKB,

I fully agree with your comments. Time and again I have said that we are all sinners and condemned by God the creator to human form since we are humans and succumb to lust and crime whenever we show weake. It was Jesus/ Isa (pbuh) who said to people who wanted to stone the adultress woman, the usual punishment at that time, that let that person be the first one to throw the stone who has not committed any sin in his life. It is said that no one came forward.

I have never heard of gang rapes being committed within or outside the university campus, it still does not mean that India has set a guiness record. Since as you sai many Govts try to suppress their social illnesses and believe you me that in the west most advanced societies such crimes are at a level that let no one from the west raise a finger at others.

    Rex Minor

The Pashtuns do not seek refuge behind jehad! The word Jehad simply means ‘Resistance’ which is a legitimate act for all people on our planet including muslims. This act, however does not sanctify a murder or the death of the enemy, nor is an excuse to justify it. But as humans our reactions cannot always be tamed and controlled and therefore while it is legaly and moraly accepted to cause the death of the other in self defence, it does not have the automatic legitimacy of the religion of Islam.

In extremely patriarchal societies the stats on rape are most likely unreliable b/c such crimes are often not reported due to the culture of victim blaming.
