Twitter Review: Reactions on ISPR “tweet”

Malik Omaid

Yesterday the ISPR’s clarification statement about Prime Minister’s denial of asking Army to act as mediator was tweeted. It was anticipated that within few hours it was re-tweeted for more than twenty thousand times. Almost every Pakistani reacted on the tweet and both parties to the conflict tried to explain the tweet by ISPR in a way that it supported their narrative. These self-explanatory and spontaneous reactions are presented here to show how the major Pakistani analysts look to the event as a blow to the Government.
The greatest blow to his government &legitimacy was rendered yesterday by Nawaz Sharif &co. Incompetence much?#AskingArmyToResolveTheCrisis

Kashif Abbasi pointed out a very interesting possibility  as to how this situation can be used by the opposition to disqualify Nawaz Sharif from premiership by using article 62, 63. Interestingly, both Tahirul Qadri and Imran Khan instantly demanded the disqualification of PM on lying after the tweet. Two years ago, Former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani was disqualified by the Supreme court for not being fit according to Article 62 and 63 of the constitution.

This simple tweet by Umer Cheema sums up the whole matter. It was amazing how people instantly believed on the tweet by ISPR and are not ready to believe what the Prime Minister has said earlier. This points towards the lost credibility of Politicians in Pakistan over the years. Irony is that the very tweet denying self indulgence in the politics of Pakistan is by the organization already involved in four Coups.
